 Dear Parents/Guardians,

Chaoyin Bilingual School recognizes the importance of utilizing after-school hours to enrich our students’ lives. We offer a variety of after-school programs designed to complement their learning experience. We will provide the following after-school programs for the 2026 – 2027 School Year. Please return this form to register your child(ren) before August 24, 2026 if your child(ren) would like to join any of the programs.

We have scheduled:

Fridays:            Tennis (Aces) (for students who enrolled in Tennis in the 2025/26 school year, or has prior experience with Tennis)

Tennis (Fundamentals) – Mondays (K – Gr. 7)

Provider: Summer Smash Tennis

Summer Smash Tennis has helped over 10,000 BC students build their game. Their tennis lessons provide a safe, positive, and challenging learning environment for students of all ages and backgrounds. Summer Smash utilizes a unique Progression and structured Pathways to scaffold the development of fundamental technique and playing ability. This combined approach delivered by expert tennis coaching gives students a powerful foundation to excel as players for life.

Basketball – Tuesdays (Gr. 3 – Gr. 7)

Provider: Empower Basketball

Empower Basketball was established in 2015. Their mission is to provide helpful and encouraging guidance to student-athletes of all ages. Participants at their program will receive individualized support that is needed in overall development. The program coordinators are NCCP trained coaches and have had extensive coaching experience at the youth level. They have developed an efficient and effective training curriculum; Features include building athleticism, honing basketball skills, support for growing bodies and teaching mental aspects of the game. Participants will be divided into a variety of groups based on their perspective abilities and levels. The respective groups will be taught team concepts, communication and how to develop chemistry and consistency.

Program Introduction and Syllabus

This 31-week basketball program progressively develops players from fundamentals to competitive play. The first 10 weeks focus on individual skills (dribbling, shooting, defense), followed by team concepts (offensive sets, defensive schemes) in weeks 11-20. The final phase (weeks 21-31) emphasizes game situations, conditioning, and tournament play, preparing athletes for real competition. Structured drills, scrimmages, and position-specific training ensure balanced growth in technique, IQ, and teamwork, culminating in playoffs and player evaluations. By program’s end, participants gain complete skills, tactical awareness, and competitive readiness—equipping them for both team success and individual progression.

Robotics and Coding – Wednesdays (Gr. 3 – Gr. 7)

Provider: Steam Pi

STEAMPI empowers children (ages 7–14) to become creators through hands-on, project-based STEAM learning (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). Their dynamic curriculum blends fun with education, teaching kids to build robots, design games, create 3D-printed inventions, and more—while developing critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. With a flexible, multi-level approach, they meet each child at their skill level, offering regular classes, advanced workshops, and seasonal camps. Guided by passionate instructors, students learn at their own pace in a supportive environment that turns curiosity into confidence.

Program Introduction and Syllabus

This program offers an exciting journey into the worlds of robotics and digital creation, designed to cultivate logical thinking through the integration of VEX GO, Scratch programming, art, and technology. Students will begin by exploring the fundamentals of engineering and mechanics with VEX GO, building a strong understanding of simple machines and robotics design. The curriculum then transitions to the vibrant, visual environment of Scratch, where students will learn to code their own interactive stories, animations, and games. This dual approach empowers students to become versatile creators, comfortable with both physical construction and digital design, fostering problem-solving skills, creativity, and a solid foundation in technological principles.

Provider:  Richmond Chess Champions

The Richmond Chess Champions program offers a dynamic and engaging after-school chess curriculum designed to foster critical thinking, strategy, and sportsmanship in students. Their expert instructors provide structured lessons, interactive gameplay, and competitive opportunities tailored to all skill levels—from beginners to advanced players. Through fun and challenging activities, students enhance their problem-solving abilities, concentration, and confidence. Aligned with educational goals, our program promotes intellectual growth while encouraging teamwork and respect. With a proven track record in Richmond schools, they aim to bring the same excitement and learning benefits to Chao Yin’s students.

Program Introduction and Syllabus

The Chess Program transforms beginners into strategic players through a structured three-phase curriculum. Students master fundamentals (piece movement, basic tactics), progress to intermediate skills (pins, skewers, endgames), and culminate with tournament preparation (time management, advanced strategies). Weekly 90-minute classes blend instruction, practice, and game analysis, while monthly tournaments and skill-based groups ensure personalized growth. By program’s end, participants develop critical thinking, competitive skills, and confidence to excel in chess – all tracked through phase assessments and a final tournament.

Tennis Aces is designed for students with prior tennis experience or those previously enrolled in the 2025/26 tennis program who are ready to further develop their game. Building on fundamental skills, this club provides a positive, supportive, and challenging environment where students can strengthen technique, improve consistency, and develop match-play strategies. Through structured progression and guided coaching, students will continue refining their strokes, footwork, and game awareness. Tennis Aces helps players grow in confidence while fostering a lifelong enjoyment of the sport.
